The Offshore Model Racing
Association (OMRA) is recognised as the leading
national organisation for model offshore powerboat
racing in the UK.
Established in 1971, OMRA has an
unbroken history of providing the national structure
for racing model offshore powerboats under authentic
race conditions.
Our association organises races
over various parts of the UK, and members are able
to take part in the OMRA Championships. There are
currently two Championship series: our members can
enter the Z-Class Driver Championships and the AA-E
Class Driver Championships. These championships are
for boats with either nitro [Z and AA-C Class] or
petrol [D & E Class] engines. For more details about
the boats eligible to run in the OMRA Championships,
see the
Classes page
Now you can get racing really easily with the
OMRA D Class! This class is open to all
petrol boats with unmodified engines up to 26cc.
Most importantly RTR Boats are eminently eligible
[with one or two provisos] and these can be
purchased for just a few hundred pounds. This means
that you can still come OMRA racing and it won't
break the bank! Aimed at new racers and younger
racers, this class will also attract more
experienced drivers too so its a chance to rub
shoulders with the big boys on level terms!

The OMRA Boatyard
is featuring an absolute plethora of race boats for sale for
some lucky new owners. With the winter upon us, now is the time
to be putting together next season's raceboats, and what better
way to do it than by saving time and money by buying something
already most of the way there!
In addition to a couple of others, the late John
Hand's stable of OMRA race boats are available for sale.
John built his boats to a fastidious standard and engineered
some beautiful hardware. Boats of this quality don't come
along very often so drop into the
Boatyard and see what you could be running in 2012!

2011 saw the
introduction of a brand new class for OMRA in the
shape of "PD" or "Production D" class as it was
initially named. A petrol class aimed at
beginners and low budget racers, this new class saw
some vibrant support throughout the whole of 2011
and has proved to be a great success for OMRA,
helping to encourage new members to come racing.
As a demonstration
class, 2011 was the test bed and having run a PD
championship for a whole season, there has been very
little tweaking to the way this class is to be run,
with one exception - its name!
The "Production D"
title caused a little confusion for some and so it
was felt to be sensible to have a shift round of the
class titles. "PD Class" now becomes "D Class" and
the old "D Class" now becomes "E Class". E Class
will continue to encourage plenty of scope for
future evolution of OMRA hulls, and as it turns out,
there are already a couple of new designs in the
pipeline.
